Who Can Qualify?
Real estate investors and entrepreneurs can claim a five-year resident permit that can be renewed as long as the investment is maintained. Capital investors receive a 10-year resident permit that can also be renewed at the end of the term if the investment remains. The investment must be held for at least three years.
Investment Requirements
Entrepreneur
To qualify under this stream, you must start a business in the UAE with at least 500,000 AED ($135,000 USD) in capital or with the approval of an authorized incubator in the country. You can also add a partner and three executives.
Capital Investor
To qualify under this stream, you must invest in the UAE at least 10 million AED ($2.7 million USD). This can take the form of:
- A deposit in an investment fund
- Capital in establishing a company
- Partnering in an existing or a new company
You can also mix these investments with real estate as long as no more than 40% is used toward it. You will also be able to include an executive and an advisor.
Real Estate
To qualify under this stream, you must purchase property in the UAE worth at least 5 million AED ($1.35 million USD). You cannot use financing.

Family
Approved applicants are allowed to include their spouse and minor children. Unmarried adult daughters can also be included in the application. Adult sons can apply for a student visa or employment visa. Parents can also be sponsored for a visa.

Requirements
The requirements for the UAE Investor Visa, besides the investment, are as follows:
- You must prove a minimum income of 10,000 AED ($2,700 USD) per month from inside or outside the country
- You must provide a police certificate from any country in which you have resided
- You must provide a health certificate and have valid medical insurance

Access to the US

As an Investor Visa applicant, you will receive a multi-exit visa allowing you to travel in and out of the UAE. As an American, you can already spend 30 days a year in the UAE with a visa on arrival. You are able to extend it for a fee. But your UAE resident permit will guarantee you entry in the UAE even during COVID-19 travel restrictions.
In the future, you might able to become a UAE citizen after a few years. The UAE passport provides visa-free access to more than 150 countries worldwide, including the EU, Canada, China, Russia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Brazil.
Access to the US

Emiratis require a visa to travel to the U.S.. Ex-Americans can combine a UAE Investor Visa with the Grenada, Montenegro or Turkey citizenship programs, since those countries have E-2 treaties with the U.S. With the nonimmigrant E-2 visa, a foreigner from an E-2 treaty country can run a business in the U.S.
Taxation
The UAE is one of the most tax-friendly jurisdictions in the world. There is no tax on personal income. There is also no corporate tax in the country unless you are running a financial institution. To become a tax resident, you will need to spend at least 183 days in the country or not be claimed as a tax resident in another country.
